View from Canon, Fort George

Fort George was built by George II after the 1746 defeat at Culloden of Bonnie Prince Charlie as defence against further Jacobite unrest. Fort George is an impressive artillery fortification with it’s garrison buildings and artillery defences which provide an insight into 18th century military life. There are still many canons around the battlements. This is the view from one of the canons at Fort George, Inverness.
