La Rochelle is a coastal city in southwestern France and capital of the Charente-Maritime department. It has been a centre for trade and fishing since the 12th Century. In the town you will find Renaissance architecture and half-timbered medieval houses. This view is looking out from the Vieux Port towards the open sea.
This is one of my earlier photographs and when I think back to the day I took it I was delighted with the way it turned out. I thought I had shot my first poster picture. Looking at it now I still love it but it does break so many of the photography rules about two thirds etc. Hopefully one day I will make it back to La Rochelle and get an updated photograph.
